Jay Deguchi
Jay Deguchi is an architect at Suyama Peterson Deguchi. After working in Southern California, he moved up to Seattle to work under George Suyama, who was considered the formost master in wood-based architecture. The studio specializes in Northwest modernism where the landscape is infused with the architecture. Their core values are to identify the fundamental ways that a human being wants to live, whether it’s refuge from work stress, connection to nature, or balance, and create that experience using a minimalist approach.
“Architecture doesn’t start at the front door and it doesn’t stop there."
“Try to get the most out of one thing, one move, one element. One is efficient, but we also think it’s responsible. Through a basic move, the experience of it becomes more genuine”
